- What payment methods can I use to make a purchase?
- Comet.co.uk accepts most major credit and debit cards including Visa, Mastercard, Switch, Delta,
American Express and Time Card.
- We also offer the facility to pay by cheque or use promotional credit that is offered on some products.
- When is my order charged to my credit card?
- We will normally process your order on the day it is received, with your card being charged at this
time.
- I don't really feel happy about paying online. Is there another way to pay?
- You can also request to make an offline payment during the online purchase process. In this instance a member of our call centre
team will phone you to discuss your payment options, and enable us to process your sale.
- Can I make a telephone purchase rather than use the website?
- Yes, you can contact our call centre direct on 08705 425 425, who will be able to process your request.
- How do I get my receipt?
- Your receipt will be sent in the post on the day that the transaction is completed. The receipt will
be sent to the card billing address.
- Why is a charge being raised against me for paying by credit/debit card?
- We are pleased to accept credit and debit cards from customers when making payments for their purchases at Comet. There is a cost to Comet for processing these cards. To keep these costs as low as possible, the handling of these payments is now done by Comet Financial Services Limited for a separate handling fee. This is now normal practice for most major high street and out of town retailers, such as Marks & Spencer, Argos, Dixons and Currys. The price at which the goods are displayed is equivalent to the combined total you are paying, which you see on your receipt. Although this handling process only affects credit and debit card payments, this does not mean you will receive a discount if you pay by cash in one of our stores. We still incur costs when we take payment in cash or cheques, but it is not possible to reduce these by involving Comet Financial Services Ltd.
- Why are some card transactions excluded from this arrangement?
- Business customers are in a different position because of VAT and so are excluded from the arrangement as they could suffer higher costs and we do not want to disadvantage them. Therefore, their card payment is not dealt with through Comet Financial Services and Comet will bear the higher processing costs.
