Be prepared for the Digital Switchover - with a digital aerial upgrade

Between now and the end of 2012, television services in the UK will go completely digital, TV region by TV region. After switchover, the old analogue signal will be switched off and all television will be broadcast in digital, giving you more choice, improved quality and new features.
All analogue TV sets and video/DVD recorders will need to be converted to digital in order to continue to receive TV broadcasts after switchover. Some aerials may also need to be upgraded to digital to receive a good quality digital signal.

Digital Aerial Upgrade

Without a satisfactory digital signal your picture may ‘freeze’ or you may find that some channels are simply not available. A digital aerial allows you to take full advantage of your digital product with perfect picture quality and uninterrupted viewing when the analogue transmissions are switched off in the next few years.

Here at Comet, we can arrange for an experienced engineer to upgrade your existing aerial system to be compatible with the available digital terrestrial signals. All aerial installations utilise high quality materials, which have been approved for digital reception and are installed by professional installers using the latest equipment.

What does the service installation include?
  • We will measure and test the available signals to ensure you are receiving the best possible digital and analogue signals
  • We will supply and install a new digitally compatible aerial
  • We will connect the new aerial to your digital TV or set top box
  • We will scan & add the digital channels & demonstrate them to you
  • We will replace your existing bracketry, cables and masts if required

*This offer is restricted to a domestic property to a maximum of three floors and excludes communal systems.
The offer is for one television point. Replacement cables, if required, will be surface-mounted. Installation price: £199.99

How do I arrange my installation?
  • Call us on 08716 648 113. Please quote reference number Comet1001
  • We will then take your details and collect payment via credit or debit card
  • We will then conduct a pre-installation survey and arrange a convenient date for installation

When will the switchover happen?

The process of digital switchover will take place between 2008 and 2012, TV region by TV region. The exception is Whitehaven, Cumbria, which became the first place to switch in October 2007.

Switchover is a complicated process, and needs to be done in stages so that everyone in the country will be ready for it.

Don't forget to check your postcode

75% of the UK population can already receive digital Freeview broadcasts through an aerial. After the switchover, the digital signal will be boosted so nearly all UK households will be able to enjoy digital TV.

Before upgrading your equipment, you should check you live in a digital Freeview area:
