When can I expect an engineer to fix my appliance?
Our engineers work Monday through to Friday. You can choose a morning or afternoon appointment on any of those days.
1. Main oven is not working/heating.
Many modern ovens won’t operate until the clock/timer is properly set. A step by step guide to doing this will be in the user manual that came with the oven.
2. Grill doesn’t work with the door shut.
Double check that you’ve selected the grill option and not the oven option on the dials or knobs. Most grills on modern ovens or cookers are designed to operate with the door open (unless otherwise stated in the manufacturer's instructions). So you may find that you have to have the door open to use the grill and this could be the cause of your problem.
3. Condensation on main oven door.
This isn’t a fault with the oven. It happens because there’s a high level of water in certain foods or meals. It can also be due to moisture in the atmosphere around the appliance. It will clear after use.
4. Funny smells.
Some brand new ovens can smell a bit funny because of the protective coating on some heating elements. To get rid of the odour, turn the empty oven on to approx 200°C for 30-60 mins - or a little longer. You should notice when the smell has gone.
5. I can smell gas.
If you think you can smell gas, don’t smoke, and don’t use naked flames. Don’t even flick power switches. Open windows, get out of your home and call the National Gas Emergency Service (formerly known Transco) on 0800 11 19 99. Don’t hang about. Call them straight away. Go. Now.
