Didn't they do well!

  • Rebecca Adlington OBE (World and Olympic swimming gold medallist)
"So many people have been affected by SportsAid and gone on to great things over the years. If people continue to support SportsAid, future athletes are going to be unstoppable."
  • Sir Matthew Pinsent (Gold medals at four consecutive Olympic Games 92-04)
"I received the first of my SportsAid Awards as a junior in 1987. Quite simply, without the money I would have remained an aspiring young sportsman, but with it I became a world and Olympic champion. That's how much SportsAid means to me."
  • Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE (Britain's most successful Paralympic athlete, winning 11 gold medals in her career)
"I was 18 years old when I received my first SportsAid Award and it was the first time that anyone other than my parents had offered me any kind of support. It was a factor in my decision to commit to my sport and also helped me plan my finances around my sporting calendar."
  • Amy Williams MBE (Winter Olympic gold medal winner)
"SportsAid helped me to get where I am now, getting me in the position to be in the best form to go on and win medals."

Comet's official charity, SportsAid, helps young sportsmen and women to achieve their ambitions by giving them a vital boost during the defining early years of their careers.

The people they help come from all over the UK. They are typically aged 12 to early 20s, train for 15 hours a week on top of their school work, travel 650 miles a month, and spend more than £5,500 a year on their sport - money that mum and dad have to find.

With Comet's help, these athletes - who are among the best in the country for their age - will be able to train harder, compete better, and hopefully go on to represent Great Britain at a future Olympic or Paralympic Games.

When its mum and dad who are paying the bills and you're getting up at four every morning before school to train, and then again at weekends to go out and compete, a vote of confidence and a bit of financial support makes an enormous difference. Our work is vital to the future of many of Britain's best young sportsmen and women and without your support, many of them would not be able to pursue their sports careers to the level they do. We hope you enjoy the opportunity to join in their journeys and to join the excitement when, thanks to you, they are able to reach the podium and bring home more gold medals for Great Britain. You will have helped to get them there. Thank you for giving the next generation the helping hand they need to succeed."
